Back in 2021 I was faced with a difficult decision. Lockdown had the most unexpected result of catapulting me into a flurry of locking corset and complex bespoke orders. Completely overwhelming the previous harmony between standard size and bespoke commissions. This was certainly not an unwelcome challenge (find me a maker who moans about too much interesting work!) but it did mean I had to pick a path, and quickly.
As a one woman band, I simply couldn't commit to the faster expected turnaround of the standard size pieces while diving into the problem-solving and intricate design process of my bespoke orders. With great reluctance, but an acknowledgment that it would not be forever, I closed the doors on my online store, giving myself entirely to the absorbing world of unique commissions I found myself in.
For the last two years I have been slowly reviving my standard size designs, bringing in new pieces (Aneira, Manon, Idris) while also re-introducing old favourites that have been updated and refined (Heledd, Isolde, Perle Luxe). There has certainly been no end of calls for Seirian to make a reappearance, and I always knew I wanted her back! For about 5 years, she was my best-selling style, becoming something of an iconic piece for my brand. She was even copied by a certain mass-manufacturer! But thankfully we were able to sort that out amicably.
But I knew that when Seirian returned, I wanted her to be the best I could offer. I've learned a lot since she first arrived in 2017, and behind the scenes I have been experimenting with different materials, upgraded construction styles, and elegant lines for the corset pattern. The new piece features a new pattern that fits as beautifully as the old one did, but with a cleaner silhouette. Detachable drop V suspenders, a sleeker quilted hip arc that reduces the bulk of the corset, encased tube boning casings for greater longevity and reinforced areas of the front and rear panels to improve structure. I can also confirm that although the official supply of gold busk fastenings has been discontinued in the UK, I have secured ongoing stock for my most popular styles! The red and gold version of this corset was the original and always the most popular.
I also knew that I wanted fresh, up-to-date images that really reflected the mood of this piece. The confidence, the allure, the voluptuousness. And who better to manifest that energy than the instantly recognisable Miriam Veil? I couldn't even tell you how long I've been an admirer of Miriam. Her work is consistently inspiring to me, channelling that perfect balance between vintage fetish icons and contemporary flair. I was overjoyed to hear that she could join Sally Sparrow and I for our shoot. It was a VERY long day, and I will have a separate blog post about it for those who like to see behind the scenes, and to see the other designs we shot that day. But throughout, we found ourselves exclaiming and jumping up and down at the back-of-camera previews. I can confirm that narrowing down my choices of edits was an impossible job!
Joining Seirian for this launch, we also have the Branwen thigh garters, which are another archive revival, and the perfect accessory for the statement drop V suspenders of the Seirian. With triple straps, and the option to have oval or circular rings (matching the Perle or Seirian respectively) these pieces will complete your set and offer an alternative to stockings for a more modern lingerie look. We are also adding new choker colours for those who like to accessorise! Find the Meghan pearl choker in teal, black and ivory, and the Telyn triple ring choker in black, ivory and red to match the Seirian shades.
Not forgetting a new addition to our guest designer range! I am so very proud to now be stocking the Aiko shibari harness from our friends over at Tatu Couture, another UK designer with exceptional pieces, distinctive style and impeccable quality. You can see Tatu's lingerie on our black Seirian shots, and I can tell you I was in full geek mode, examining the perfect finishing! If you'd like to see more pieces like the shrug available at Orchid, please let me know! The Aiko is a piece I have in my own wardrobe in two colours, because I love it that much. Whenever I feel an outfit is a bit flat or needs something to lift it to perfection, I always reach for Aiko. The elegant and refined bondage styling is exactly what you need to team up with your favourite corset. Available in claret red, black, and oyster. Looking to match? The claret is the perfect shade to tie in with our Morgan locking wrist cuffs, the oyster is heavenly with the Aneira lace or Seirian and Manon in ivory, and the black goes with… everything if you have my wardrobe!
I hope you will join me in celebrating the return of a classic, and if you have other archive styles you would like to see revived, please let me know!
