What To Expect

A fully bespoke, highly detailed storytelling corset in the style and theme of your choosing, with creative control and design by me. This will be a unique showpiece commission, celebrating 20 years of Orchid Corsetry, expect wearable art, but not a daily wear piece! Your corset is likely to be extensively embellished in an artistic, expressive manner which often entails delicacy.

I will be consulting you after purchase for loose guidelines (vegan/ non vegan, any particular colours to avoid etc) as well as detailed measurements. In person fittings will be available at my Mid Wales studio if desired. As this is a semi surprise commission, there will not be sketches sent of intended designs, just an exquisite treasure arriving at your door.

As there will only be a maximum of 8 commissions taken from these moodboards, your finished commission will have a limited edition number, along with a short piece of creative writing inspired by the myth and the elements drawn upon for your corset. I hope these corsets will feel like an immersive garment for you, a portal allowing you to step into a mythical world of your choosing, and to experience new elements of it with each wear.

What if I don't like it?

I have every confidence that you will! I have been creating surprise bespoke commissions for my clients for nearly 2 decades, and I have never had an unhappy customer! The moodboard is there to let you get a feel for my intentions with the piece, and to describe a direction. I will also be confirming any colours to avoid with you and asking about what drew you to this particular moodboard. This will help guide me in creating a piece that feels complete to me, and is something you will resonate with on every level.

That said, this is a bespoke corset and all sales are final. If you are someone who likes to retain full control, let's talk about a regular bespoke commission where you can keep hold of the reins!

Payment Plans

I am open to payment plans, I ask for a deposit of 50% to secure the piece, with the remainder paid by the time the corset is ready to ship. To set this up, please email me.

Shipping

Regretably, it has become very difficult to ship within the EU and the US recently due to tarifs and packaging laws. If you are a US customer, please be aware that I will have to invoice you separately for tariffs paid upon completion of the corset and before I can ship. EU customers- I have sadly had to suspend shipping from my store to your countries due to the PPWR legislation, but if you wish to visit the UK and have your order shipped to you here, please get in touch to arrange your purchase.

"Selkie"

"The selkie can be found in Scotish and Irish mythology, a female sea spirit, a sleek, swift seal in the water, but on land, they shed their seal skins to reveal a beautiful woman, dancing on the moonlit shore."

Legend says that if you wish to keep a selkie in human form, you must hide their seal skin, dooming them to a life on land. But be warned- they will never stop dreaming of returning to their true home, between kelp, and stone and sea foam.

If they ever find their stolen skins, you may never see them again. Except, perhaps a seal bobbing just off the shore, dark eyes regarding you keenly.

This is a fully bespoke piece, and will be made to an in depth series of your body lengths and circumferences. Up to three toile fittings are included in the price of all corsets except waspies.

These commisions are open to all genders.

The final fabrics will be part of the surprise but will be informed by your choces of vegan/ non vegan. The luxurious fabrics may include brocades, lace, silk dupions, velvets, pearls, crystals, and feathers. Construction may be our lighter mesh pieces, or more rigid coutil based styles, with boning types informed by consultation with you. All corsets are built for waist reduction and sculpting, and will be suitable for your intended cinch.

Exterior embellishment details may contain the intention for a sense of erosion or deterioration over time, for instance, raw edged fabric petals that will fray with use. These will never affect the overall integrity of the corset and are not considered a fault, but a creative process.

Dry Clean Only

My intention is for these to be intensive pieces, made with care, thought and time for ideas to fully develop and refine. Please allow up to a year for your commission to be completed. If you have a particularly special deadline you would like met please discuss with me before purchase and I will do my best to accomodate it.
